My Children are Auditioning for Exorcist 2

Ok, no I'm not putting them into an acting career, but I swear based on the amount of spit up going on around here you'd think they were channeling their inner Linda Blair.

Recently I had mentioned that the pediatrician suggested bumping them up to 3 meals a day and since then we've had a hard time finding a happy medium. Majority of the time they eat to much and a screaming until they spit up about half of what they ate. I've read books, searched the interwebs, and asked friends and family how much to give. Most of what I've heard is to feed them until they turn their heads. Well, side note about my almost 20lbs children, their mouths don't typically turn away from food. Well my daughter primarily. So they'll eat until they puke, for lack of a better phrase.

I've tried giving them less formula more solids, less solids and the same amount of formula and no matter what I do, we all end the day drenched. So now I turn to all of you. I need advice on how much solid and formula I should be giving them and maybe any tips on what you did. Also, what is the time frame in between that you feed your children? Anything is very much appreciated!

Oh and did I mention that they will be 7 months tomorrow?!? AHHHH!

My twins are also really big babies. They are 10 months and they weigh 23 and 20.5 lbs. They have been eating solid foods since they were about 4.5 months because formula just wasn't cutting it! When they were 7 months, they were definetely eating 3 meals a day and about 28-30 ozs of formula. They would have about 5 bottles of 6 ozs each and sometimes they wouldn't finish the formula or whatever. They would have bottles at 7 A.M, 11, 2, 5, and 8. For breakfast, I would usually do baby oatmeal with fruit. They would have probably like 1/2 cup each. For lunch, they would usually do 1 jar of fruit and 1 jar of veggies (they would share it)-so about 1 jar each. And dinner would be 1 jar meat (they were eating 3rd foods by then) and 1 jar of veggies-shared again. Everyone would always tell me that I was feeding them too much but they were hungry!

Now they are eating 3 meals, 1 snack, and are having about 20 ozs of formula but could probably be just fine with 16 ozs. They eat all table foods and are pretty much feeding themselves. They are huge but happy and healthy! :)

Thank you so much for the info! Did your twins spit up a lot when they ate all of that food? That's my biggest concern

They rarely if ever spit up after about 6 or 7 months. They were pretty good spiter-uppers when they were just having formula but it seems they grew out of it. How much formula are your twins drinking? Maybe you should just stop feeding them after a predetermined amount-like 1 jar. Have you talked to your doctor? Reflux? I don't know just throwing ideas out there.

Good luck Gretchen, sounds like long/wet/disgusting days for you!
