Shopaholics...

Ok so the twins aren't exactly at that point yet, but we did have our first shopping trip yesterday. Being the amazing children they are they slept the entire time! It was great. Plus I finally learned how to use the Double Snap & Go stroller I've had (A real lifesaver, and extremely easy to fold up and pop out).

I ventured out to the Outlets with my sister-in-law, niece, and the twins. Now a double stroller isn't exactly the easiest to maneuver around the store, but I think I did pretty good for the first time. I only knocked off a few clothes off the hangers and ran into maybe 5 displays. I even figured out how to open the door and push the stroller through myself. Although, I will say people are very willing to help you out when they see you have two babies. All in all it was a good trip and I think I might start venturing out a little more now that I know I can handle it.

Oh and we got a few really cute things for a great price! I'm teaching them bargain shopping!

When you Must Hose Down Your Child...

Ok, so I didn't technically take my daughter outside and crank up the hose, BUT I did go with a more gentle approach to "Hosing" down my child. I stuck her under the faucet. What caused me to resort to such things? Oh that would be the epic poop she decided to use as a moisturizer.

Let me bring you back to Sunday, the day of said epic poop. We were driving home from the beach and I knew she was doing something in the back seat. She was grunting and groaning and her face kept getting red. Then she spit up EVERYWHERE! So when we get home both the twins are screaming for food so I decided to feed them before we changed them. Ryan took Cavan and I took Kaylie. When I tell you the odor that came from my child, it was just toxic. Of course at first I thought it was just the smell of her spit up all over her (which I should mention was part of it). Then I got a whiff of something a little more foul permeating into my nose. I lifted up her cute little dress only to see one of the most horrific sites EVER! Her little once white onsie was now greenish brown!

Now I've had my fair share of diaper changes, but I honestly had no idea where to even begin with this one! How do I get the outfit off without getting poop all over her? Will the wipes really clean this mess up? The only thing I could think to do was hose down my child, but I'm pretty sure you're not supposed to hose down an 11 week old. So I thought, the faucet, similar concept, more acceptable, right? It was off to the tub for us. I carefully rolled the outfit off her, and successfully got it off without spreading the monstrosity. Then I started running the water and check the temp. I then just stuck my daughter under the faucet and just rinsed and rinsed and rinsed. Then I soaped her up and rinsed again...and again...and repeat.

I think the funniest part of the whole thing was the look I got from Kaylie when I stuck her under the faucet. It was a "What in the world do you think you are doing to me" look. Looking back it was pretty funny, but at the time, I was horrified! I'm sure it won't be the last time either.

Talk Up Tuesday

My Talk Up Tuesday submission today is The Lame Sauce. This blog is anything but lame. It's from a Dad's perspective and it's funny to see things from the other side. He is also the artist behind Modern Bird Studios. They're artwork is just beautiful and as soon as I have some money I am getting one of these paintings done!!! So I guess technically I'm talking up two pages today, but definitely check them out!

As always if you have a blog you want to talk up, just grab the button, write a post, and link it up below! Happy Tuesday all!

Sleep...Becoming Less Overrated

I am happy to report that my children's sleep patterns are getting MUCH better. I don't know if it is just because we were at the beach all weekend and they got A LOT of fresh, sea air, but the past 3 nights they only woke up once in the middle of the night to eat! The first night I looked at the clock when they started to fuss and couldn't believe it had been 6 hours from their last feeding! No that wasn't a typo, 6 HOURS! Since then they have gone anywhere between 5 and 6 hours at night!

However, we are now back home and the twins had no sea air today. I did take them outside for a bit so maybe just the regular fresh air will do. So hopefully the pattern will continue or even get better! I will say though, the sleep has been so much better and I will not take it for granted ever again!

Success...

Success takes on a whole new meaning when you become a Mom. Just a short time ago, success meant that I had a good job, a nice place to live, a nice car, etc.. Well now let me give you a list of the successes of a new Mom:
  • Going 4 hours between feedings at night... Success
  • Finishing pooping (or peeing) BEFORE the diaper is taken off... Success
  • Me getting out of my Pj's for the day... Success
  • Me getting to take a shower... Success
  • Going a full day without puke on my shoulder... Success
  • Only one wardrobe change throughout the day for the twins... Success
  • Being on time anywhere... Success
  • Only one load of laundry a day... Success
  • Not losing 4 pacifiers a day... Success
  • My son not peeing on his face during his bath... Success
  • Eating a hot meal... Success
So as you can see, my successes have changed slightly. They're a little more specific and a little smaller than before, but they make a world of difference when accomplished. It's funny how your perspective changed when another life (or two) enter your world.

How I Met Your Father...

Still continuing on the D-Listed Blog Party. So Click Here to check out my blog party post.

Yesterday I mentioned that I have known my husband for 22 years and a lot of my readers were very impressed by that. So how did it all begin? So kids, let me tell you about the year 1988. I was 6 years old and my Mom and Step-Father had brought me to the place that would change my life forever: Little Compton, RI. My Step-Father's Cousin had a little cottage in a camp ground down there and would let us occasionally stay there. Well, I wasn't the only kid there. We quickly became friends with a lot of the other kids in the camp ground. We would run rampant playing games of Fox and Hound or just sitting on the basketball court and talking.

Of the people I became friends with, one was named Katie. Well Katie had an older brother named Ryan. In 1988, to a 6 year old, Ryan was a boy and therefore had cooties and was weird! Most boys were at that age. As the years went on, I still saw Ryan as just Katie's older brother and nothing more. We would only hang out if we were all playing some game or all hanging at their cottage.

Fast forward to the year 2000. Ryan entered into the United States Coast Guard and I went to College. We didn't see each other for 4 years. Well let me be the first to tell you, 4 years can make a lifetime's difference. I was at a benefit dance with some of my friends one night and Ryan's mom had told me that he was coming and that we should hang out with him. In he walked and it was like I was seeing him for the first time.

No longer did I see Katie's older brother. No longer did I see that weird kid with cooties. I saw Ryan. I would like to tell you that it was love from that point on, however, that wasn't exactly the case. We did spend the night dancing and talking and oh yeah, drinking. I apparently told him I was going up to my room to change into sweats and I'd meet him at the after party. Well, I never made it to the after party. My friends graciously put a drunk girl to bed for the night and Ryan was gone.

Fast Forward to May of 2005. I saw Ryan again down in Little Compton, RI. From their we caught each other's attention yet again and never let it out of our site. We got engaged in August of 2007, married in July 2008, pregnant in November 2008, miscarried in March 2009, pregnant with twins in July 2009, Had our twins in March 2010. Our Journey, still leaving footprints behind from that one summer in 1988 in Little Compton, RI.
